UK-NL Cyber & Fintech Summit, The Hague – Event: 20 February 2020

In partnership with the Welsh Government, the British Embassy The Hague is pleased to invite you to the UK-NL Cyber & Fintech Summit on 20 February 2020; the CFS2020.

CFS2020 will combine technological challenges in AI, Data Management and Security, Cybercrime and Regulation on the intersection of Cyber and Fintech. In the aftermath of our Cyber Security and Fintech events in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019, we’re expecting around 1000 attendants for what promises to be an action packed summit that brings together business, government and academia from both the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.

The summit will bring together the whole UK and NL Cyber Security and Fintech network to share new and upcoming technologies between the two countries, discuss best practice policy practices and – of course – do business. At previous editions, attendees and speakers featured senior UK and Dutch officials and thought leaders, including ministers of economic affairs and security, a former prime minister, board and C-level executives from large multinationals and institutions such as ING, BT, the NATO NCIA and many others.

ATI Boeing Accelerator Programme – Deadline: 15 November 2019

The ATI Boeing Accelerator programme is designed to support startups building solutions applicable to the UK aerospace industry. What is it & what does it do?
The ATI Boeing Accelerator is a 3 month-long programme based at Public Hall ( Horse Guards Ave, London). It is intended to support the growth of startups in the UK’s aerospace ecosystem.

Who’s it for?
We’re looking for world-class startups creating industry 4.0 and sustainability enabling technologies with the potential to bolster the growth and competitiveness of the UK aerospace industry. We’re especially interested in innovative operations, manufacturing and logistics/supply chain startups.

What are its timeframes?
Applications are open until 15 November 2019 and the first cohort starts January 2020.

FIC (the International Cybersecurity Forum), Lille – 28-30 January 2020

Welsh Government International Trade Team will have a stand at this major cyber event in France and are inviting Cyber Wales members to join them for the 3 day event.

The International Cybersecurity Forum (FIC) is the leading European event on Cybersecurity. The event relies on: a TRADE SHOW for buyers and suppliers of cybersecurity solutions to meet and network and a FORUM to foster reflection and exchanges among the European cybersecurity ecosystem.

10,000 visitors from 80 different countries will be attending the event which is a terrific opportunity to explore potential opportunities in the European Market with support from Welsh Government.

The International Cybersecurity Forum will take place at Lille Grand Palais the 28th, 29th and 30th of January 2020 at the Lille Grand Palais, 1 boulevard des Cités Unies, Lille. This is in Northern France and only a 70 mile drive from the Eurotunnel so there are plenty of options for getting there.

TheCityUK National Conference, Cardiff – Event: 21 November 2019

This year Cardiff will host TheCityUK’s National Conference. Supported by the Welsh Government, this conference is taking place at the Principality Stadium on Thursday 21 November (10:00-16:00). We have a limited availability to the event so we are accepting registrations on a first-come-first-served basis.

The conference will be attended by over 200 industry leaders, policymakers and academics. The theme this year is ‘Making an Impact’, with keynote speeches focusing on how the financial and related professional services industry supports people and businesses across the UK.

IT-SA Trade Fair, Nuremberg – Event: 8-10 October 2019

I hope you are well? I have recently telephoned your office, but I thought I would get in touch via email too.

I wanted to let you know that since I attended your cluster meeting a few months back at S4C/Carmarthenshire, I have been looking at cyber opportunities here in Germany. Marc Shanker, my colleague based in Duesseldorf, has also doing some work building links in North Rhein-Westphalia. We are trying to understand the German cyber ecosystem, government priorities and market opportunities.

Last week, I was in Munich and I met with some more contacts and I have been offered an opportunity…

The Bavaria State Government and Security Network Munich jointly organize and co-host an international networking event at Nuremberg Town Hall to coincide with IT-SA . It will be on Wednesday, 9th October around 12:00 – 14:00.

My conversations to date with the Bavarians have been about exploring opportunities and the idea of linking up your cluster with the Bavarians.

Bavaria is the largest German state. It is one of the richest regions in Europe and the second-richest state after North Rhein-Westphalia, home to key companies-Siemens, BMW, Audi, Adidas, Allianz, The Linde Group (BOC Port Talbot). There are circa 20 companies in Wales owned by Bavarian companies.

Next year, the Bavarian State Government will open an office in London. I think this is an interesting development by a German regional government. I am informed that the Bavarian London office is keen to adopt a pan-UK approach and that they will engage actively beyond London. Edinburgh is twinned with Munich and the Scots are already well-networked with companies, science and innovation centres and more.

I was wondering therefore whether you or someone from the cluster might be interested in attending IT-SA with me in October? It would be great to take up the Bavarian’s offer of an invite and it would be chance for me to work more closely with you to explore the German market cyber opportunity for Wales.

Cybersecurity and Industry 4.0 Conference in Bilbao, Spain – Deadline: 7 September 2019

Next November 20th and 21st, the annual Cybersecurity and Industry 4.0 Conference will take place in Bilbao.

Javier Diéguez Barriocanal, Director of the Basque Cybersecurity Centre is inviting 2 Welsh cyber companies to come and showcase their products at the event. Welsh Government has a Memorandum of Understanding in place with the Basque Country with the aim of fostering closer links between our cyber ecosystems and this invitation is extended in the spirit of that MoU.

What profile they we looking for:
* European company.
* Cybersecurity technology vendor.
* Addressed to industrial control systems protection.
* Not a direct competitor of a Basque company (we’ll assess this point).

What we are offering:
* No cost for the booth, the company will only cover travel and Accommodation expenses.
* More than 100 highly digitalized industrial companies sharing the expo area with cyber companies.
* Introductions to specific kind of potential customers among our local industry.
* Introductions to potential local partners (integrators).
* Introductions to acceleration programmes and incentives for opening a branch in the region.
* Introductions to Academia and Research Institutes.

The conferences will take place over 3 days:
* Nov. 19th – Cybersecurity for Robotics international Conference. I’ll give you more info shortly, we are currently defining the contents in collaboration with several international bodies (attendance, around 100 people).
* Nov. 20th – Basque Industry 4.0 Meeting Point (attendance, around 2.500 people).
* Nov. 21st – Basque Cybersecurity Day (attendance, around 800 people).

Some side meetings are also planned during these days such as GlobalEPIC and FIRST.

Javier has asked kindly asked for details of 5-6 companies who would be interested in attending by September 7th so that they can select the most suitable and inform you by the end of September.

If they discover more than 2 acceptable companies, they will evaluate if they have room for all of them in the Expo area.

BIND 4.0 Start-up Initiative Launch – Event: 23 July 2019

Representatives from the Basque Region of Spain are visiting Wales next week to launch their annual Basque Start-up initiative Bind 4.0. Last year’s edition took place in the Digital Catapult in London.

The aim of Bind 4.0 is to connect Basque manufacturing companies (both indigenous and Basque based multi-nationals) to tech start-ups from around the world who are at minimum viable product level or beyond with a view to co-developing a product or solving a problem.

This year marks the third edition of the initiative and the focus will be on the four sectors: health, advanced manufacturing, energy and food.

If successful, the programme would offer tech start-ups: a major potential future customer, finance (minimum EUR 25,000-EUR 150,000), travel and subsistence expenses as well as training and mentoring. There is no expectation that the start-up will relocate to the Basque Country.

The programme launches in July with applications from tech companies to be submitted by end September.

The Future Space Supply Chain – Event: 21st May 2019

Aerospace Wales are delighted to offer companies the opportunity to hear direct from Airbus Defence and Space about the future space supply chain, Airbus’ plans for future activity and learn more about the opportunities to engage in the Airbus space supply chain.

The event will be run at the OpTIC Centre in St Asaphs and will also include private one-to-one sessions with members of the Airbus Space Systems team.

This industry day hosted by Aerospace Wales and Airbus Defence and Space will provide the opportunity to hear from Airbus’s Space Systems and procurement teams on the changing space environment, future systems and programme requirements across the Telecom, Earth Observation, Navigation, Science and Geo-Intelligence segments.

We will also be discussing the support available to Wales based companies, whether you are already involved on this sector or see this as an opportunity to diversify your business.  Plus there will be plenty of networking opportunities.

Exhibit at InfoSec 2019 with Welsh Government – Deadline: 21st May 2019

The Welsh Government has once again got a stand at Infosec 2019. Our involvement has been a success over the last few years, in no small part thanks to the involvement of Cyber businesses and partners in Wales.

We’re at Infosec to promote the Welsh capability in Cyber security, built around the Cyber Wales ecosystem. For us, having that ecosystem represented on the stand has been a highly effective way to promote our capability.

The stand has also provided the platform for businesses, academic and law enforcement/defence partners to exhibit at Europe’s largest Cyber event, and a springboard for some Cluster members to invest in their own stands.

The space on the stand allows members to display their printed marketing literature, meet with potential customers, run laptop presentations etc. and have product information running on our screen.

I am pleased to announce that the Welsh Government will once again be exhibiting at DSEI, at ExCel in London, 10-13 September 2019.  
 
DSEI provides access to key, high quality exhibitors and decision makers across the Air, Naval, Land and Security supply chain, alongside networking opportunities and the ability to see new technologies first hand on the show floor. 
 
We are offering Wales based companies the opportunity to participate in the show on a Wales stand to maximise the opportunities that such a global event can offer. The cost of a stand package on the Wales stand is £1,500 plus VAT, details of the package are outlined in the attached application form.
