This will be the inaugural meeting of the new CNI, OT & ICS Cyber Cluster.
The aim of this new Cluster is to provide a platform to share intelligence and explore ideas on the specific cyber security challenges being faced by organisations working in Critical National Infrastructure (CNI), Operational Technology (OT) and Industrial Control Systems (ICS).
This first meeting will be held at Cardiff University and the guest speaker is Charith Perera (MBA, PhD), a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in computing science at Cardiff University. He received the Ph.D. degree in computer science from The Australian National University in Canberra, Australia. Currently, he is also a Researcher-in-Residence (part-time) at Digital Catapult, London.
The School of Computer Sciences and Informatics has been very successful in attracting external cybersecurity research funding amounting to more than £7.5m which has been awarded from a number of the 7 Research Councils that make up UK Research & Innovation (used to be called Research Councils UK).
One such project is the PETRAS (Privacy, Ethics, Trust, Reliability, Acceptability, and Security) Research Hub, funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), which is the main funding body for engineering and physical sciences research in the UK. Charith is a Co-Investigator at the PETRAS 2 National Centre of Excellence for IoT Systems Cybersecurity and he will describe the work of this project and it's importance to those working in OT.
If you work in, or have an interest in, cyber security in the industrial sectors then please feel free to come along to these meetings. They are free to attend and will provide a relaxed forum for networking, sharing best practice and collaborating.
