Women in Cyber Wales Cluster - January 2020
16th January 2020 | 16:00 - 18:00

Our next Women in Cyber Wales meeting will be a Capture the Flag event!

Held at the University of South Wales Newport City Campus on Thursday 16th January 4pm-6pm.

You are welcome to organise your own team for the event or we can help place you in a team closer to the competition.

So bring along your friends or colleagues and let us welcome in the new year together with this fantastic event!

What is Capture the Flag?

Capture the Flag is a competition event which consists of a series of challenges that require participants to exercise their different skills to solve, which may be vital in a cyber security environment. Once a challenge is solved, a “flag” is given to the player and they submit this flag to the CTF server to earn points. Players can participate by themselves or as part of a team to attempt to score the highest number of points. Types of challenges can include programming, cryptography, exploitation and reverse engineering.

Women in Cyber Wales

Women in Cyber Wales is a networking event for women working (or hoping to work) in the cyber industry in Wales. Women in Cyber Wales is a sub cluster of the South Wales Cyber cluster and grew out of a visible lack of gender diversity in the Cyber Security industry. The purpose of the group is to provide an opportunity for networking and support, where women aren't in the minority, and to provide a platform for women to share the amazing work they are doing in the field.

New members are always very welcome.

Meetings are held roughly once a month in South Wales and you don't have to be Welsh to join us! Dates are announced on our Twitter feed @WomenCyberWales or you can send us a message to be added to the contacts list.
