Our final networking meeting of the 2021 for women working, or hoping to work, in the cyber industry About this event

Women in Cyber Wales is part of the Cyber Wales Group. The meetings provide a valuable way for women working, or hoping to work, in the cyber industry to meet and support each other.

Last month we heard from some really inspiring women working in cyber security, and we're going to build on that with another great selection of speakers who we're honoured to host for event.

We'll hear presentations from:

  • Deborah Haworth, Chief Information Security Officer, Penguin Random House UK
  • Sema Yuce, Director, Truth ISC
  • Bridget Kenyon, Chief Information Security Officer, EMEA, and Information Security Programmes Leader at Thales Digital Identity and Security
Deborah has more than twenty years’ experience as an information security professional across multiple industries, and has been at the sharp end of changing attitudes to this discipline.

With a gift for cutting through and telling it how it is, she is known for motivational leadership.

Deborah is an ISACA Certified Information Security Manager, Fellow of the British Computer Society and Chartered IT Professional specialising in security GRC (governance, risk and compliance) with extensive experience in crisis management and complex problem solving.

Sema is the founder and director of a boutique London-based information security governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) management consulting firm specialising in providing creative, cost-effective, independent management consultancy and security awareness solutions. She is a volunteer translator at the SANS Institute, a mentor at Reed-Women in Technology programme, a SheLeadsTech Ambassador at ISACA, a Professional Member and publisher reviewer at the British Computer Society (BCS) and a volunteer instructor at Fintech Istanbul for the “Cyber Security and Ethics” courses. In 2020, she won the TechWomen Awards for her outstanding contribution to the women in the technology sector.

Her experience in information security started in 2000 with a role in network vulnerabilities at DERA, following which she has been a Qualified Security Assessor against PCI DSS, Information Security Officer for Warwick University, Head of Information Security for UCL, and has held a variety of roles in consultancy and academia. Bridget has been contributing to international standards development since 2006, when she first joined BSI Panel 1, coordinating development of information security management system standards; she is currently editor for ISO/IEC 27014. Bridget has also co-authored three textbooks on information security. She strongly believes that information security is fundamental to reliable business operations, not a nice-to-have. In 2018, she was named as one of the top 25 Women in Tech by UK publication PCR.

The presentations will be followed by an informal panel discussion and Q&A where we anticipate some excellent conversion and networking opportunities.
