The Women in Cyber cluster provides a valuable way for women working, or hoping to work, in the cyber industry to meet and support each other. Due to social distancing measures, we will be hosting our next meeting as an online webinar and we already have three fantastic speakers lined up.
Following the recent publication of the NCSC / KPMG report 'Decrypting Diversity: Diversity and Inclusion in Cyber Security', our speakers will focus on the impact and importance of diversity in the industry from a variety of view points.
From Chwarae Teg we have Eleanor Leyshon, who will talk about the role women play in developing and driving the economy, and will discuss some of the initiatives Chwarae Teg have in place to support and encourage diversity. Emma Tamplin will highlight the 'Not Just For Boys' initiative, which targets girls just before they choose their GCSEs giving them the chance to meet role models from different industries and to try their hands at engineering, digital and other skills that they might never have tried before.
Leanne Davies, Lecturer in Cyber Security at Glyndwr University will walk us through her experience of the industry, including widening the diversity issues through the cyber clusters both here and abroad.
And Holly Lidbury, Education Lead at the National Digital Exploitation Centre in Ebbw Vale will explain the importance of working with girls to encourage them into cyber security and digital subjects from an early age, in order to inspire a diverse and inclusive next generation of specialists.
We plan to have time for a panel discussion / Q&A at the end of the presentations so there will plenty of time for networking and questions. We hope you will be able to join us in this exciting online event.
Please reserve your ticket now, and a link for the webinar will be sent to you shortly before the event.
